I found out about Yuna and this specific track after reading an interview with The FADER founder, Rob Stone. Yuna is a signee to FADER label.

While not something I would normally listen to, Yuna’s voice is draws you in and anyone thats been through an ended relationship can relate with at least some of the lyrics. It might explain the playcount in my iTunes.

Team Scene is an alternative hip-hop group based out of the East Coast (their bio says New York, Miami and Boston). I would say they’re closer to pop-rap and thats not an insult at all, because I would much rather listen to Team Scene than any of the other acts in that category such as The Black Eyed Peas.

Team Scene was featured on the Secret Society Mixtape Vol. 2 and on a tape that featured acts I’m much more familiar with, Team Scene’s track #1 Girl was the standout track. Looking for someone new to listen to? If you’re a fan of hip-hop then you can’t find many bad things to say about G.o.D. Jewels. Hailing from Chicago (which heavily influences his lyrics), G.o.D. Jewels has shown over his consistency over multiple releases (Glory or Death, Deleted Scenes, Greatness Opens Doors) and is someone that has the potential to be a big name in the rap game.

G.o.D. Jewels was on MTV years ago for a freestyle competition that was hosted by Cassidy. I don’t think that’s the last last time G.o.D. Jewels will be on that screen.

Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint” and Kanye West’s “The College Dropout” are among my favorite hip-hop albums of all time. OF ALL TIME! #kanyeshrug

After reading that statement, it should be no surprise to you that I’m heavily anticipating the release of the collaboration album between the two which is entitled “Watch The Throne.” Separately, Jay-Z and Kanye have each dropped classic material. Hopefully the level of competition between the two will bring out some great music. The duo is calling themselves “The Throne” and with the release of Watch The Throne less than a week away, buzz is at an all time high.

Between getting Givenchy creative director Riccardo Tisci to design the album cover and the announcement of a national stadium tour, it seems like The Throne is going all out for this release. The decision by Jay-Z and Kanye West to release the album digitally through iTunes before the physical release has angered many mom and pop record shops. The deluxe version will only be released digitally which adds insult to injury since purchasers of physical CDs are more likely to purchase a deluxe album over a regular release. But forget all the drama, let’s get to the music.
