If you ran into me a year ago and asked what R&B I was listening to, I would either not have an answer or just rattle off whatever R&B track may have been big on the radio at the time.

In 2011, R&B releases have been vying for the top spots in my favorite albums and mixtapes of the year. Between Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Jesse Boykins III R&B has definitely been well represented. Not to leave the females out of the picture, Jhene Aiko’s “Sailing Souls” is another one of the top R&B releases this year.

Not only is the California-based singer easy on the eyes, she put together a solid album that will definitely stay in your collection. Here’s to hoping Jhene releases some music videos.
